Seeing that the mini rail is located in the township of Casino New South Wales it is only appropriate that our first gallery is of former rail activity around Casino.
The junction of Casino is situated on the North Coast line, 805 km from Sydney, and it had an important steam running depot in the hey-day of steam operations.

Having made its connection with No: 27 passenger to Murwillumbah ( the cars for which can be seen in the back platform ), the Brisbane Express heads north out of Casino with 3531 in charge in 1951.
1703 was a little too fast for the shutter as it ambled into Casino off the Murwillumbah line with No:28 local passenger in 1938.

5915 takes a well earned rest at the Casino Round House in July 1968.
In the mid 1930's Casino was home to four specially prepared 32 Class, three of which were named, for working the expresses north to the border. Here we see 3313, "Queenslander", at the head of the No:4 Limited Express at Casino's mainline platform.
Heading the North Coast Mail out of Casino's back platform onto the Murwillumbah branch line is 3385 in this mid 1930's scene. The inevitable "dog box" symbol of the NSW mail train for so long, is behind the loco.
